AREAS AFFECTED: Schleicher, TX; Sutton, TX
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of west central Texas, including the following counties, Schleicher and Sutton. * WHEN...Until 600 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 407 PM CDT, radar indicated a cluster of thunderstorms with very heavy rain over southwestern Schleicher County into northwestern Sutton County. Rainfall of 1 to 2 inches has already fallen in parts of the area, and some of this area received heavy rain yesterday. An additional three quarters of an inch to 1.5 inches is expected. This will cause flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Eldorado, The Intersection Of I-10 And Ranch Road 1989 and Us-277 Near The Sutton-Schleicher County Line. - This includes Interstate 10 between Mile Markers 381 and 395. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.

Precipitation in the form of water droplets is called rain.

depending on the season and regional influences. Cities have been shown to have
an observable effect on rainfall, due to an effect called the urban heat island.
Compared to upwind, monthly rainfall between twenty and forty miles downwind of
cities is 30% greater.
