Southwestern Marshall County in central Iowa... Northwestern Jasper County in central Iowa... Southeastern Boone County in central Iowa... Northeastern Dallas County in central Iowa... * Until 1100 PM CDT. * At 953 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Granger, or near Grimes, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Des Moines, Ames, Ankeny, Urbandale, Johnston, Clive, Altoona, Waukee, Grimes, Perry, Nevada, Bondurant, Polk City, Huxley, Saylorville, Madrid, Mitchellville, Colfax, Dallas Center, and Slater. This includes the following highways... Interstate 35 between mile markers 87 and 112. Interstate 80 between mile markers 127 and 133, and between mile markers 137 and 163.
INSTRUCTION: For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Drizzle is precipitation in the form of water droplets which are
smaller than raindrops.
Drizzle is characterized by fine, gently falling droplets and typically does not
impact human habitation in a negative way. The exception to this is freezing drizzle,
a condition where drizzle freezes immediately upon reaching earth's surface.
Freezing drizzle is still less dangerous than freezing rain, but can
potentially result in hazardous road conditions.

Fog is technically a type of stratus cloud, which lies along the
ground and obscures visibility.
It is usually created when humidity in the air condenses into tiny water droplets.
Because of this, some places are more prone to foggy weather, such as regions
close to a body of water.
Fog is similar to mist; both are the appearance of water droplets suspended in
the air, but fog is the term applied to the condition when visibility is less than 1 km.
