DESCRIPTION: The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency in Springfield Illinois has issued a Air Quality Action Day for fine particulates, until midnight CDT tonight. Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is not likely to be affected. Active children and adults, especially people with pulmonary or respiratory disease such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor activity. Area residents are urged to reduce pollution levels. Air quality forecasts and tips on how you can reduce your emissions can be found at www.airnow.gov. For additional information, please visit the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency website at epa.illinois.gov/.

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
