DESCRIPTION: THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 567 IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM MDT /2 AM CDT/ SUNDAY FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN KANSAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 11 COUNTIES IN NORTHWEST KANSAS CHEYENNE DECATUR RAWLINS SHERIDAN SHERMAN THOMAS IN WEST CENTRAL KANSAS GOVE GREELEY LOGAN WALLACE WICHITA IN NEBRASKA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 3 COUNTIES IN SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA DUNDY HITCHCOCK RED WILLOW THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ATWOOD, BENKELMAN, BIRD CITY, COLBY, CULBERTSON, GOODLAND, GRAINFIELD, GRINNELL, HOXIE, LEOTI, MCCOOK, OAKLEY, OBERLIN, PALISADE, QUINTER, SHARON SPRINGS, ST. Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
