For the Mud Creek...including Jacksonville...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Mud Creek near Jacksonville. * WHEN...From late tonight to late Saturday night. * IMPACTS...At 10.0 feet, Minor lowland flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 8.9 feet. - Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this morning to a crest of 10.6 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage early Sunday morning. - Flood stage is 9.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.6 feet on 05/01/1958. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Freezing rain is a condition where precipitation which has fallen in the form of
water droplets reaches temperatures which are below freezing and freezes upon
coming into contact
with surface objects. The result of this precipitation is a glaze of ice which
can be damaging to plants and man-made structures. A severe onset of freezing
rain which results in a very thick glaze of ice is known as an ice storm.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
